It was a great day of Snow falling all day. It was a new experience for the students to enjoy school and watch the snow fall. As the snow came down we focused hard on the beginnings of our Figurative Language Unit. Learners read more of our current novel "Love That Dog" and got explore how Jack (the main character in the novel) got his dog. We laughed at the insights and cried a little too. Learners also spent time creating their Figurative Language Lapbooks. They should have these at home, ask to have them share it with you.
We focused on the ELA portion of class today because this is very important work to your child's success and continual growth as a student in 5th Grade. As writers we need to build a picture with words, and this unit helps your learner accomplish that.
Have a safe night enjoying the snow!
